Tough Mudder, the global leader in obstacle course races, has announced the debut of Tough Mudder Infinity in the Middle East. The ultra-endurance obstacle course race (OCR) event will take place on Saturday 24 February 2024 at one of the world’s top destinations, AlUla, offering participants an unparalleled experience of a physical and mental challenge.

What is Tough Mudder Infinity
Tough Mudder Infinity is the entry-level offering in the Tough Mudder Endurance Series.
Infinity is a multi-lap race against the clock– how many laps of the Tough Mudder course can you complete in 8 hours?
Is the Infinity event timed?
Yes, all Infinity racers will have a timing chip to clock their laps.
What are the Infinity rules?
Normal Infinity rules will be the basis for the event although there will be a number of changes made to suit the event location and prize funds available. Full details will be published in the race briefing ahead of the event. Please click below for the existing Tough Mudder Infinity rules.

Team Rules:
In keeping with current Tough Mudder rules, teams must run the first and last lap together.
All other laps ONLY 1 person can run (out of Team of 2) and ONLY 2 (out of Team of 4).
There will be an additional distance to be run at the start of the first lap that will apply only to that lap – that all racers must complete.

Full rules will be shared to racers on the lead to the event and are subject to change.

What are the gender requirements for the teams?
Each team can be made up of men or women with no set requirements or limit on each gender. All teams will enter the same races.
Are there penalties?
Yes, there are penalties. Obstacle completion is mandatory or requires the completion of a penalty. A full list of penalty obstacles and penalties will be issued as part of the Race Briefing. Additionally, there are obstacles that must be completed. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
How will race be monitored to ensure fair results?
Judges will be stationed at each obstacle to ensure that all athletes complete the obstacle correctly. Failure to do so will result in a penalty or disqualification (DQ).
Video recording will be used throughout the course to capture all activity in case of a dispute.
Multiple checkpoints will be placed along the course to prevent athletes from cutting corners.
The Prize Pot
There will be prize money for the individual race (1-10 for each gender), for the team races (1 to 3 for each race) and age category prizes. The Prize pot for this event will be one of the biggest the sport has ever seen. The 1st prize for the Infinity race for each gender is $80k, 2nd prize $32k, 3rd prize 16k – with further prizes for 4th to 10th. The Prize pot for the Team of 2 is $32k (across Top 3 positions) and for the Team of 4 is $64k (across the Top 3). There are also prizes for fastest lap and across age group finishing positions.

What tickets are available and what is included?
Tickets available:
Infinity tickets available are individual, group of 2, and group of 4.
Standard non-competitive Tough Mudder tickets for 5K and 10K races will also be available.

Ticket prices:
Infinity – 400 SAR per ticket (circa $106 USD)

10k – 200k SAR per ticket (circa $53 USD)
5k – 150k per ticket (circa $40 USD)

What do I need to know to participate in the race?
WHAT TO BRING

Required to enter the event:

A valid photo ID (digital copy accepted)
Participant ticket (printed or on phone)

Recommended:

Card and cash
Fresh change of clothes
Hat and sunscreen

For the race:

A good pair of running shoes with good cushioning, traction, and drainage
Form-fitting, lightweight, breathable gear.

For the village and campsite:

Change of clothes for the number of days you are in attendance
Cold weather clothes for nighttime
Sleeping bag and suitable bedding (if taking the tented option)

Hydration tips:

AlUla is hot and dry, so hydration packs are strongly encouraged for all distances.
Make sure to carry enough water to be able to keep yourself hydrated between stations.
Stop at every aid station to get water, and use your pack in between.
We highly suggest carrying some type of electrolyte drink in addition to water.
Make sure to properly hydrate in the week leading up to the event.
Take advantage of the food stations out on course.

Glamping Adventure:
Upgrade your Camping package to the Glamping option. Glamping includes a large tent, increased bedding, USB ports and an in
house light. You’ll enjoy cozy tents, delicious meals, and convenient transportation to and from the event. Get ready to connect with nature while experiencing the adrenaline of Tough Mudder. Package includes – 2 nights in tented accommodation in Glamping tent option, 2 x Breakfast (brought to the tent), and 2 x Dinner (to take
place in the Race Village). Transportation from the airport and back is also included.
Your ticket will also include Race Pack, Welcome gifts and an invitation to the Post Race Party. The tented village will be accessible only to those with Campsite access,
and will have security 24/7.

Hotel Midrange:

Useful Information
All COVID‑19 restrictions for travel to Saudi Arabia have been lifted. Passengers are no longer required to hold a COVID‑19 vaccination certificate or a COVID‑19 test result to enter the country. Quarantine restrictions have also been lifted.

Planned schedule for the event:
The campsite will be open from 9am on Friday 23rd February to midday on Sunday 25th February.


AlUla climate:
Winter, typically October through April, has the most pleasant temperatures ranging from 10–25C (45–70F). It does get colder at night, so it is important to pack some warm clothing. May through September sees an increase in heat in this desert climate, with temperatures ranging from 20–35C (60–95F).

What airport is nearby the event?
Prince Abdul Majeed bin Abdulaziz International Airport is located 25kms (16min) southeast of AlUla, Saudi Arabia.
Flying To AlUla
Saudia Airlines, Flydubai and Flynas all operate direct flights in and out of AlUla International Airport (ULH) from regional and international destinations.
The beautifully renovated airport is a welcoming entrance into AlUla, though being a small airport, services are limited. Its location is just 30 km or a 30-minute drive from the city center.

Driving to AlUla Information
Car rental is cost-effective and readily available in Saudi Arabia. Affordable fuel prices and well-maintained roads and highways that connect the major cities in Saudi Arabia make driving to AlUla an enjoyable experience.

International drivers should carry a valid driving license from their country of residence; an international driving permit is also highly recommended.

AlUla is a three-hour drive from both Medina to the south and Tabuk to the north. Both cities have several rental-car companies to choose from. If you are looking for an adventure and have more time to explore, longer road trips from Jeddah and Riyadh are a great way to explore some of Saudi Arabia’s other destinations on the way to AlUla. Dress code:
Dress code depends on the individual establishments. Some are casual and some require more sophisticated dress. Women do not need to wear a head cover or an abaya. Places of worship do require you to dress modestly while visiting.

Language:
The official language of Saudi Arabia is Arabic, but English is widely spoken in AlUla and around the country. All road signs are bilingual, showing information in Arabic and English.

Culture:
Saudi Arabia’s rich heritage and traditions have been shaped by its position as a historic trade hub and the birthplace of Islam. In recent years, the Kingdom has undergone a significant cultural transformation, evolving century-old customs to fit the contemporary world we live in today.

Currency:
The local currency is Saudi Riyal (SAR)

Bad language, loud behavior and encroaching on other people’s boundaries are considered disrespectful. Respectful public decorum is always advised.

Do I have to be an elite athlete to compete in Tough Mudder Infinity?
No, anyone can do Infinity.
What is against the law?
Alcohol, gambling, nudity, pork, and disrespecting the culture are all forbidden in Saudi Arabia as per the law.
Is alcohol allowed?
The sale, purchase and consumption of alcohol is illegal in Saudi Arabia. It is illegal to bring alcohol or drugs into the country.
What happens if there is inclement weather?
In the event of inclement weather such as sand storms, lightning, tornadoes, hurricanes, and the like, we reserve the right to eliminate obstacles, select portions of the course or cancel the event in order to ensure the safety of racers, volunteers, and staff. As always, weather can be unpredictable. Please come prepared for chilly morning and evening temperatures, but very hot and dry conditions during the day. There is no shade on any of the
courses.
Is Saudi Arabia safe?
Saudi Arabia is a very safe country with a very welcoming culture and low crime rate.
